Learning Series: Human AI Literacy – Shifting Our Perspective

August 19, 2026

12:00 PM - 1:00 PM Eastern Time

There's no shortage of conversation about AI today, as organizations focus on learning the tools, writing better prompts, and working faster. But there's a harder skill underwriting all of it that rarely gets named, one that represents a paradigm shift in how we approach AI: human AI literacy

AI fluency may be the destination, but human literacy is how you get there, the foundational skill that builds the bridge to genuine AI fluency. In this session, we will explore how fluent language from a model can gradually erode critical judgment, what it actually means for humans to be "in the loop" (rather than just present in the process), and strategies grantmaking organizations can use to cultivate the human capabilities that make AI adoption trustworthy, rather than simply fast.

If you've ever wondered whether your team is using AI or being used by it, this session is for you.

Key Takeaways Include:

  • Understand how AI’s language fluency and confidence can influence human judgment and decision-making.
  • Distinguish between simply overseeing AI and meaningfully building the skills and practices that support responsible, trustworthy AI adoption.
  • Strengthen your organization’s capacity for critical thinking and human-centered AI use.

Who Should Attend:

  • Program, grants management, operations, technology, and learning leaders, as well as anyone responsible for guiding AI adoption and/or building staff capacity.

Guest Presenter:

  • Pete Schmitke, Vice President of Technology Services, Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan

This session will be facilitated by Gozi Egbuonu, Director of Programs at TAG.

This is the first session of a planned two-part series.
