Peer Community: Community Foundations Meeting | September 2026

The purpose of this peer community is to inspire, learn, and connect with fellow philanthropy tech professionals around the challenges and opportunities facing community foundations.
Community Leadership & Structure:
The Community Foundations Peer Community is led by two member co-chairs who are supported by TAG staff to deliver meaning sessions aimed at growing our networks and building stronger connections with fellow community foundations staff.

- Jeremy Manus, Director of Technology Operations, The Boston Foundation
Community Foundations Peer Community meetings are typically relationship forward conversations rather than formal presentations; however, TAG will invite guest speakers to help provide an expert lens on a specific theme or topic. Regular sessions prioritize peer exchange, mutual support, and candid discussion in a high trust environment.

September Meeting: Policies & Governance
This “peer power hour” brings community foundations staff together for a focused conversation on data governance and organizational policies: what frameworks you're putting in place, what's working, and what challenges you're navigating.
We'll discuss how different grantmaking organizations are implementing data governance practices, from creating policies and building internal buy-in to establishing clear roles, responsibilities, and decision-making processes. Participants will be invited to share examples, templates, and strategies around policy development, governance structures, and change management.
This session offers a practical opportunity to learn from peers and identify strategies for strengthening your organization's data governance.
