Defining & Diagnosing Risk Amid Uncertainty

March 11, 2026

12:00 PM - 1:00 PM Eastern Time

In a time characterized by funding cuts, inflation, and growing pressure on social impact organizations, “risk” can feel both overwhelming and poorly defined.

This session focuses on how grantmakers can define, assess, and mitigate risk in ways that are grounded in mission, strategy, and real-world constraints.

Participants will hear from peer organizations about using risk scores and readiness assessments to prioritize resources, adapt grant structures, and proactively support grantees. Through an interactive discussion with solution providers and grantmakers, participants will examine when to lean in, when to pause, and how to communicate risk-informed decisions with transparency and compassion.

This is the first session in a two-part series.

Key Takeaways Include:

  • Gain a clear, practical framework for defining risk while navigating change.

  • Learn how to center risk management strategies around inclusion and equitable data access.

  • Strengthen your ability to communicate risk-informed decisions with transparency.

  • Explore how peer organizations are defining their risk profiles and centralizing fragmented data.

Guest Presenters:

This interactive session, facilitated by Gozi Egbuonu, Director of Programs at TAG, brings grantmakers and solution providers together to share lessons learned from working in partnership early—surfacing real needs for collaboration, navigating challenges, and designing enterprise-ready tools that support philanthropic organizations and the communities they serve.
