Help America Achieve Broadband Access for All
Be part of implementing President Obama's economic stimulus plan. President Obama and Congress tasked the Department of Commerce to distribute unprecedented $7.2 billion in stimulus funds to expand broadband access to unserved and underserved communities across the United States. The grants are intended to advance economic development and provide lasting value to education, research, healthcare, and energy conservation.
In the first round of BTOP funding, the National Telecommunications and Information Admistration (NTIA) of the Department of Commerce will provide grant funding of up to
* $1.2 billion for deployment of broadband infrastructure to unserved and underserved areas
* $50 million for public computer centers, and
* $150 million to promote broadband adoption in vulnerable communities.
The first round of applications is due August 14.
We need the help of volunteer expert reviewers to ensure that these funds are well invested for our future. The NTIA is looking for a minimum time commitment of approximately 20 hours between mid August and mid September. To apply to be a reviewer, please send a resume and a signed Conflict of Interest Interest/Confidentiality certification (available at https://tagtech.yourmembership.com/www.broadbandusa.gov) to BTOPReviewers@ntia.doc.gov.
