The digitalImpact.io (www.digitalimpact.io) project aims to help nonprofits and foundations improve their governance and management of digital resources and ensure safe, ethical, and effective mission-based practices in civil society. The project centers around a website of free, peer-created resources from and for nonprofits and foundations. The resources include sample policies for governing digital data, tools for different staff roles, and educational resources on the nature and importance of digital data. The Technology Affinity Group provided critical seed support along with the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. The site is being built and managed by the Digital Civil Society Lab at Stanford’s Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society. Partnerships with content providers, users, and capacity building partners are key to the strategy.
People interested in testing the site or suggesting materials should contact Lucy Bernholz at Bernholz@stanford.edu. The site will launch at TAG’s November conference. Please plan to attend Lucy’s pre-conference workshop at the TAG 2015 Conference to learn how to use this amazing new resource for the sector.
